Business excellence is the use of management principles and tools in business management.
In general, business excellence models have been developed by national bodies such as IMC (RBNQA), Rajiv Gandhi Award (Golden Peacock), CII, etc. as a basis for award programs. By far the majority of organizations that use these models do so for self-assessment, through which they may identify improvement opportunities, areas of strength, and ideas for future organisational development
These models are holistic in that they focus upon all areas and dimensions of an organisation, and in particular, factors that drive performance. Typically these frameworks consider how an organisation is managed (through considering such factors as Leadership, Strategic Planning, Customer & Market Focus, Information & Analysis, Human Resource Focus, Process Management) and the results achieved (through considering such factors as Customer Focused Results, Financial & Market Results, Human Resource Results and Organisational Effectiveness Results). |
